Reductionism

Reductionism

This digital photo technique makes me see the world in a completely new way. Where before was just non-interesting spot now it is a frame with great potential when pictured using this technique.

Originally this scene mode was meant for capturing text such as notes or printouts however I found when used for images, can produce unconventional pictures. Images are not post processed to look like this, it is how it comes from the camera.

I call this reductionism because many factors are reduced or eliminated. There is no depth of field and noise is not a big issue. Focus is important however from time to time when out of focus is applied you can get something interesting. Pictures have reduced perspective, midtones, details, contours and other elements so foreground and background often overlap, blacks and whites fight for dominance and all of that can be used to achieve desired or unexpected results.
